Spearheading Life of an SSG President: Leading in a Post-Pandemic Education

Snippet of a Student-Leader's Memoir: LEARN, INSPIRE & INFLUENCE

"Leadership is no alien to me. My passion in leading was instilled in my system ever since elementary." That's what I said eight months ago during the campaign period for the election.

As a graduating student my goal is just to bring back the "academically focused" student that I used to be - having good scores and excellent grades just like in my early junior high school days. Never in my wildest dream did I imagine that I would be the SSG President of Bantayan Science High School .

Banscie was just a dream school for me, little did i know that dream school of mine was set for me to lead.

I ran for the SSG election trice now, first was for the position of treasurer, but i didn't won, second was for Vice President but the same fate was handed out to me, but this time as I've run to become the SSG President, God paved the way and showed me that "this is it", this is his greater and bigger plan for me.
Indeed, 3rd time's the charm.

Truth be told, i am exposed on a world whereas being
a leader is my core, may it be in a school project, a club or a youth organization (even in our local government, I am an advocate president) .

Soon after being elected and inducted as SSG President, time and again I've told myself that I already knew what to do.
But as time folds by, I come to realize that a new and lofty experience for me is waiting to transpire.

The first three months in service as a student leader has been a really knackering and tough experience not just for me but for all the students who stood, lead and help in attaining to give the BanScie studentry a great and memorable Academic Year.

Our time in service is different from all the previous government before us, making it exciting and challenging.

Before us were councils leading in a normal face to face academic year, there was also one leading during the peak of the pandemic and a council leading in the transitioning time from modular to a limited face-to-face classes.

But this time, for the Academic Year of 2022-2023, we are leading and serving in a full face-to-face year, some calls it the comeback.

It was a bit of a challenge for us forming programs that will awaken students, unleash their potentials and would give them a chance to have core memories while also ensuring their health and safety.

As I've mentioned, the first couple of months of serving was a tough experience. All those remembering what the activities from three years ago were, the brainstorming and the sacrifices we've made.

It was tough, but it was also worthwhile. It has been a great experience working with students and teachers whose commitment for service are commendable. We had a fair share of laugh and tough moments inside the library. And I am really looking forward in working more with the student leaders, clubs and organization of BanScie that indeed keeps our school soaring high, especially that the Academic Year is ending.

Once a classmate asked me, " Are you regretting that you ran(as president)?"

"No" I answered her.

I've asked myself countless of times if can I still do it or will I carry this well, or can I keep going but then I was reminded of a verse that I've read during the time I was still campaigning.
Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” that's the verse that keeps me going, He keeps me going. I am also constantly reminding myself why I started and it's because of them, the Supre Sc'ians. Moreover, the bliss that I've seen in their faces is a fulfilment that fuels me to continue.

Needless to say, being a leader is hard but I didn't regret becoming one.
